service, AND keep you’re existing AOL email address.

AOL account [http://press.aol.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=1027], you can

So why pay double what other big competitors do? Cancel now, and save.
Follow these steps to cancel AOL:
1) Order New Service
Before you cancel AOL, we recommend that you first join and setup an account
with a more people-friendly ISP like PeoplePC, or Earthlink, dial-up account to
ensure uninterrupted access to the Internet. You can read our Compare Internet
Service page to view basic features to look for.
2) Prepare a written cancellation letter
For obvious reasons AOL doesn't make it easy for you to quit their service. For
example, there's no "Cancel My AOL Service" option on the "Help" menu. There is
also no clear way (that we can see) through the “billing” area of AOL’s
membership site either. If you call AOL by phone you’re sure to be intercepted
by what is know as “Win-Back” customer service representatives. These agents
will offer any discounts under the sun to try to get you to stay. So, the best
way for canceling service is in writing through snail-mail or fax.
If you choose to write or fax AOL, be sure to include the nature of your request
and primary billing contact's full name, phone number, address, and handwritten
signature. Additionally, for account security purposes, they will request you
provide ONE of the following:
• Master Screen Name or Username
• The answer to the Primary Master Screen Name's Account Security Question
• Last 4 digits of the credit card that you charged the service to
What to say when calling AOL
If for some reason you feel more comfortable calling to cancel AOL service, here
are a list of things to say which will expedite the call – avoiding lengthy
discussions with customer service trying to keep you from canceling.
• I’m selling my computer and moving out of the country.
• I have recently taken a job with your competitor (PeoplePC, Earthlink, SBC
Yahoo, or any others), and am now getting free internet access.
• I’ve joined the order of the Amish, have donated my computer to charity, and
will be moving to Pennsylvania (works especially well if you already live there).
• The court confiscated my computer hardware during the investigation. And, now
(as a condition of my probation) I’ve been ordered me to stop using the Internet
for two years.
• Voices are speaking to me through the internet…make them stop!
